FUCK YEAH CREATIVE IN NEON

Project Overview

A short creative identity film developed for FY!C to establish the visual language, tone, and attitude of the brand. The piece combines character-driven animation, graphic design, editing, and generative filmmaking techniques into a fast, stylized introduction to the studio. Rather than repeating one polished logo animation, the film sends the FY!C hand through shifting materials, locations, scales, and cinematic genres. It becomes glass, neon, stone, metal, food, ice, and fire while maintaining the attitude and recognizable silhouette of the original identity.

Purpose of the Test

The goal was to test whether generative tools could support a highly specific creative direction rather than dictate it. I focused on maintaining visual consistency, controlling performance and pacing, and integrating AI-generated material into a finished piece that still felt intentionally designed, directed, and edited.

The Creative Challenge

The goal was to create a motion identity that felt alive, unpredictable, and cinematic without losing recognition of the FY!C hand. The symbol needed to remain visually consistent while fitting into dramatically different environments. Each transformation had to feel intentional, physical, and connected to the larger creative identity rather than functioning as an unrelated AI-generated image.

Creative Direction

I approached the project as a series of directed visual experiments. I established rules for the hand silhouette, star placement, scale, color, and attitude, then explored how the identity could exist as architecture, sculpture, machinery, food, light, and living material. I selected the strongest concepts and developed them into moving sequences. The final edit was structured around contrast, escalation, and musical rhythm, so each new interpretation felt like another expression of the same creative voice.

What the Test Demonstrated

The project showed that a recognizable visual identity could remain consistent while transforming across radically different materials, environments, scales, and cinematic styles.

The process also reinforced that generative tools are most effective when they operate within strict visual rules and are shaped through direction, selection, iteration, and editorial judgment.

That finishes this case study, rather than implying another film is coming.

Production Process

The film was built through an iterative generative filmmaking workflow rather than a single prompt or model. Each sequence involved visual development, generation, motion testing, selection, and editorial refinement.
I rejected or rebuilt unsuccessful interpretations, while unexpected results sometimes inspired entirely new directions.

I used Photoshop for image development and visual refinement. Generative video tools created the transformations and environmental motion, while Premiere Pro shaped pacing, continuity, color, transitions, and the film’s final structure.

The original music, “Black Choir Stomp,” was created with Suno and helped shape the energy and rhythm of the final edit.

Outcome

The finished film transforms a static brand mark into a flexible visual system that carries character, humor, spectacle, and cinematic scale. The project demonstrates how generative tools can be directed as part of a larger filmmaking process, combining experimentation with visual rules, selection, performance, editing, and a clear creative point of view.
